Doggie Prom - How cute

My friend Kelly and her family went to a doggie prom. Yes, a doggie prom where they chose a King and a Queen and other prizes were awarded.

I was asked if I could make 2 outfits for 2 of her dogs, Daisy, a Papillon, and Lilly, a Jack Russel/ Chihuahua mix.

I made a pink satin and embroidered organza dress for Daisy, with matching hat, and purse, with 2 compartments, so Daisy could store her treats and poo bags. :-)
And all the girls got wrist corsages. :-))

Unfortunately Daisy had a little mishap right before the prom with her sister, so Lilly stepped in and wore Daisy's organza prom dress.
Here she is, Lilly, looking as pretty as can be. Her Mom even painted her nails pink.

 

 

 

Lilly was supposed to wear this Crown Princess sweater set that I made for her, also with hat, and matching purse. Here she is modeling her sweater set.

Sophie also went to the prom in this pretty feather dress:

Pretty Flower dog Bridal gown in the making

A customer asked me to make a bridal dress for her dog, who she is calling her Flower Dog.

She gave me a description of her own wedding dress, which included:

White lace, western style, rustic, layers of ruffles and lace, and some bling.

Her bridal colors are turquoise and brown, with a touch of yellow and white.

Her malti-poo is white, and she wants color and some lace.

I drew a few sketches and the decision was a turquoise satin skirt, with some white overlay. She did not want a train, but she liked my idea of the lace cascading down the back

The cutting and stitching begins:

Now to figure out how to get the lace to casade and still keep the pretty finished edge. I decided to piece it in levels:

And it looks like this:

Added some organza ruffles, and a nice big satin bow:

And now to get some of the other bridal party colors in there. I added some brown ribbon:

And some yellow flowers:

Finished dress with some matching hair bows.

Weddings are in the air...

The royal wedding was not the only wedding in my mind this weekend, although I think it may have been my inspiration.

Following is the makings of my latest wedding dress.

This one is for a Cockapoo named Hannah.

I'm ready to make the first cut of this beaautiful lace fabric.

It has an irredescent thread running through it as well, which is hard to show in the pictures.

Looks like I will have just enough.

( The shamrock table cloth is put down to protect the table while I am cutting.)

Sewing begins. The lace fabric gets a double lining so the seams do not show.

Playing around with some designs for the bodice.

I decided to use an organza ruffle that has sequint flowers in the center. I used this along the neck edge and I made a curved design with it on the bodice.

I also used some organza flowers which have beaded centers.

Work starts on the train - no lining on the train so the lace will really stand out.

Finished dress with train. The train is removable, so Hannah can dance at the reception.

I also bordered the bottom of the train with the organza ruffle.

That bottom flowerette gets removed and that is where the train gets attached:

The head piece also has some of the sequint organza ruffle along the front:

Of course, she must cover her face while walking towards the altar - so the veil can be worn over the face:

I wonder if this will be a June wedding. :-)
